Tesla's Electric Revolution in India: A Bold Move to Win Over Customers
Tesla's determination to conquer the Indian market is an inspiring tale of innovation and perseverance. Despite initial challenges, the electric vehicle giant is not backing down. They've unveiled a game-changing offer, the 'Tesla EV Switch & Save Program', which could be a game-changer for eco-conscious drivers in India.
But here's where it gets controversial: Tesla is offering a substantial incentive to trade in your fossil-fueled car. With this program, you can receive a whopping 3 lakh rupees (approximately C$4,530 or US$3,312) on top of your car's value. This money is specifically for purchasing a Tesla Model Y (Rear-Wheel Drive).
And this is the part most people miss: you can further sweeten the deal by using the Spinny platform. By doing so, you'll gain an additional 25,000 rupees (around C$377 or US$276) as an exchange bonus.
But Tesla's not done yet. They're also introducing a new financing plan that can be combined with these exchange bonuses. With this plan, you only need to put down a 6 lakh rupees (approximately C$9,060 or US$6,624) deposit, and your monthly payments start from a manageable 49,000 rupees (around C$740 or US$540).
As an added bonus, Tesla will provide a free Wall Connector for home charging, making the transition to electric even smoother.
The Tesla Model Y, which starts at 59,89,000 rupees (approximately C$90,400 or US$66,120) in India, is an attractive option for those looking to make the switch. However, Tesla's journey in India has been slow, with only 225 electric vehicles sold in 2025 due to high import duties. The company opened its first showrooms in Mumbai and New Delhi, but sales have been sluggish since the launch of Model Y deliveries in September.
